The population in North America has more than doubled in the last 50 years, yet the demand for water has tripled. The average person now uses—in one way or another—more than 100 gallons of water a day! As a result, levels of consumable water are far too low. Over the next five years, a recent government survey stated that at least 36 states are anticipating local, regional, or statewide water shortages!

This escalated demand for water is putting a heavy strain on distribution centers, too. Experts fear that these centers will not be able to properly remove all of the natural contaminants and human pollutants before the water is dispensed to the public. So, not only are water supplies diminished, the water that is “supposedly useable” may contain high percentages of toxins. Do you want your kids bathing in that?

All this information points to one obvious fact: Water is more precious than ever. Everyone has a responsibility to start using it more efficiently.
